Benefits of Potassium Permanganate Bath

The potassium permanganate bath can be used to help treat itching and heal common skin wounds, being especially useful in case of chickenpox, a common childhood disease.
This bath serves to eliminate bacteria and fungi from the skin, because it has antiseptic action, being a good healing for burn and chickenpox wounds, for example.

The potassium permanganate bath can also be used in the sitz bath to help treat vaginal discharge caused by infections such as candidiasis, vulvovaginitis or vaginitis.


How to Bathe with Potassium Permanganate

To bathe with potassium permanganate, it is advised:

• Place 1 tablet of 100 mg of potassium permanganate in a bucket with 4 liters of warm water, until it is diluted.

Bathe normally and, in the end, you should stay in the water with potassium permanganate for up to 10 minutes, every day, until the wounds disappear completely. After bathing, it should be dried with a soft towel, without scrubbing it on the skin, to avoid irritation. You should not stay in the water for longer to avoid irritating the skin.

Essential Care 

It is important not to grab the tablet directly with your fingers, the ideal is to open the packaging and drop it in the bucket where the water is.

The tablets are corrosive and should not come into direct contact with the skin because it can cause irritation, redness, pain, severe burns and dark spots in the contact areas. However, when properly diluted potassium permanganate is safe and does not cause any skin damage.

Care should be taken not to let the product come into contact with the eyes because the tablets, or very concentrated water, can cause severe irritation, redness and blurred vision.

The tablets should also not be ingested, but in case it occurs should not induce vomiting, being more recommended to drink large amounts of water and go to the emergency as quickly as possible.
