Eating foods low in calories, increasing the consumption of fruits and vegetables;


  • Avoiding foods high in fat, salt and sugar;

  • Read food labels, trying to avoid those that contain sugar;
  • Prepare grilled, baked or cooked food, avoiding fried foods and stews;
  • Avoid sweeteners, since many of them alter blood glucose, in case you want to sweeten coffee, for example, it is preferable to use stevia;
  • Consume 2 to 2.5 L of water per day.


Weight loss is very important to control blood sugar, so it is important to perform regular physical activity such as walking for 30 to 60 minutes at least 3 times per week.

In some cases the endocrine may prescribe the use of medications to control blood glucose, called oral hypoglycemic agents such as metformin, whose dose must be indicated by the doctor, which will depend on the individual needs of each person, may also indicate medications for lower cholesterol and hypertension, if necessary.
