Rosehip Oil: What it is for and how to use it


Rosa Mosqueta oil can be used to help reduce stretch marks, keloids, scars and wrinkles in the expression line, which has a powerful regenerating and emollient effect on the skin, since it is rich in fatty acids such as oleic acid, linoleic acid , in addition to vitamin A and some ketone compounds.

This oil is obtained from the seeds of the wild rosehip plant, which grows spontaneously in the Andes mountains of Chile and Argentina, and whose scientific name is  Rosa eglanteria L.  In addition to this, rosehip oil is capable to strengthen the synthesis of collagen and elastin, deeply nourishing the skin and giving it firmness and elasticity, being ideal to place it on dry or flaking skin, leaving it soft and silky.

What is Rosehip Oil for?

Rosehip oil is indicated for very dry and rough skin, to promote its regeneration, and can be used in various situations such as:


  • Burn treatment;
  • Suture healing;
  • Attenuation of old scars and stretch marks;
  • Ulcerations;
  • Diaper dermatitis or also called diaper rash;
  • Psoriasis and dermatosis in the skin;
  • Attenuate and disguise wrinkles and expression lines;
  • Hydrate the skin;
  • Prevent early skin aging.


In addition to this during pregnancy, this oil can help prevent the development of stretch marks, being recommended for this purpose at least 2 times per day.

To use rosehip oil, it is recommended that a few drops be applied to the skin, using circular massages for 2 to 3 minutes, until the oil is completely absorbed through the skin.

How to Prepare Homemade Rosehip Oil

To make rosehip oil at home, to nourish and brighten the skin, you need:

Ingredients


  • 30 or 40 grams of Rosehip seeds;
  • Almonds oil;
  • Pot or glass jar with lid;
  • Bottle with dropper.


Preparation Mode

Start by removing the edges of each of the seeds with a knife, cut them in half to expose their contents and add them to the glass jar. Add the almond oil until all the seeds are covered. Cover the bottle and let the mixture stand for approximately 20 days. After that time, it should be strained and placed in a jar with a dropper.

Mode of Use

It is recommended to apply a few drops of oil to the skin 1 to 2 times a day, especially in drier regions or with scars, stretch marks, wrinkles or expression lines, for example. This oil can also be purchased at a pharmacy, herbalist, parapharmacy, natural products store, in some supermarkets and in online stores.

Rosa Mosqueta oil can also be used to prepare a homemade wrinkle cream, which moisturizes, softens and prevents the appearance of wrinkles and expression lines on the skin. To prepare this cream you need:

Ingredients


  • 5 ml Rosehip essential oil;
  • 20 ml of coconut oil;
  • 30 ml of beeswax;
  • 1 vial of vitamin E;
  • Pot or glass jar with lid.


Preparation Mode

Place coconut oil and beeswax in a pot and heat in a water bath, mixing regularly with a spatula, until the two ingredients are mixed. Then add rosehip oil and vitamin E ampoule, mix well and let cool. Store in the refrigerator.

This cream can be applied to the face several times a day as needed, and should be placed mainly in the morning and at night before bedtime.

In addition to this, to make the cream more liquid it is possible to add 30 mL of coconut oil and only 20 mL of beeswax, or if cream with more consistency is preferred, just add 40 mL of beeswax and only 10 to 15 mL of coconut oil.
